Find Burt County Court Dates

Start with the court that actually holds the case. Two offices matter in Burt County. Burt County Court handles traffic, misdemeanor, and limited-jurisdiction settings, while the Nebraska District Court for Burt County takes felony-stage and broader district matters. A court calendar shows a scheduled hearing; the Register of Actions tracks settings and later changes case by case. Begin with a Burt County court date search, then confirm any date that affects travel, a deadline, or a changed notice.

Burt County Court Calendars Explained

Burt County runs two separate trial-court calendars, not one combined local list. County Court covers traffic, municipal-ordinance, misdemeanor, small-claims, probate, juvenile, and preliminary-felony matters. The Nebraska District Court for Burt County sits in the Sixth Judicial District. It handles felony matters after bind-over. It also handles domestic relations. Larger civil matters and other district proceedings land there too. The Nebraska Multi-Court Case Calendar searches one court type at a time. Pick the right court first. That choice is part of finding a hearing.

Treat the calendar as a settings tool only. It links a case number and caption to a date, time, and location. It says nothing about whether a hearing happened or a case was dismissed. That answer lives in the later Register of Actions entry and any filed order.

Burt County Calendar Controls

Start by picking County Court or District Court on the statewide form. Then select Burt from the matching dropdown. The two court types have separate selectors, so that first choice matters. From there, you can search the calendar by date or by last name. Date mode only works for the current date or a future one. Last-name mode needs at least two characters. That's the full toolkit. There is no case-number, judge, courtroom, calendar-type, or date-range filter anywhere on the form. So if you already have a Burt County case number, take it to JUSTICE or the clerk instead. This calendar tool is built for browsing a day's hearings. It is not for pulling up one known case.

Whatever a date or name search turns up, it is only a lead. Verify it in the right Register of Actions or with the responsible Burt County clerk.

Finding Your Court Date

Use every channel when the date truly matters. A citation or court notice is the first record of an appearance date. The calendar gives a cross-case view. JUSTICE case detail can show later settings, orders, and continuances. A subscriber search may open case detail for a recurring account. But eFiling is a filing service, not a calendar search. Burt County posts no separate local calendar page or general calendar request form.

  1. Read the court name and date on the citation, notice, or prior setting. Choose County Court for the usual traffic and misdemeanor matters, or District Court for a district matter.
  2. Search the Multi-Court Case Calendar by future date when the date is known, or by last name when it is not. Repeat with the other court selector if the court stage is unclear.
  3. Open the related case in Nebraska JUSTICE and read the newest Register of Actions entry for a setting, continuance, or order.
  4. Use the courthouse public terminal when remote results are incomplete. The District Clerk office is Suite 11, and County Court is Suite 9 at the Burt courthouse.
  5. Call District Court at 402-374-2905, County Court at 402-374-2950, or statewide County Court Information Specialists at 888-342-6395 to confirm the local setting.

No mail, fax, or email calendar service exists. Write to a court only if the clerk tells you to. Compiled court-information requests go through the State Court Administrator, not an assumed local calendar inbox.

Burt County Motion Days

The Burt County Clerk of District Court posts a recurring District Court motion day. Motion day is the second Thursday of each month. Criminal matters start at 9:00 a.m. Civil matters start at 10:30 a.m. That schedule is local motion-day information only, not a case list, a courtroom assignment, or proof that any particular case is set. County Court office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, are not hearing times either. The local court page offers no separate daily Burt court calendar. Call the right office first. Do not treat a recurring schedule or office hour as your own setting. The District Court contact page lists the Burt District Court location and clerk contact information.

Those contact details make direct confirmation easy when an online setting lacks detail.

How to Read a Court Setting

A calendar line usually gives just enough to identify a scheduled event. It is not the full case file. A listed time may be a docket call rather than an individual hearing time, and the result may give a location without a specific courtroom. Read the event wording on the line itself. Generic labels like arraignment, pretrial, sentencing, trial, motion, or review are plain descriptions unless the case record says more.

Case numberThe identifying number that ties the calendar result to the correct JUSTICE case record.
CaptionThe case title, used with the number to distinguish a matching name.
DateThe scheduled calendar date, not proof that the hearing happened.
TimeThe listed time, which can be a docket-call time rather than a guaranteed individual start.
LocationThe court location shown by the calendar; confirm room details with the clerk when needed.
Setting typeThe event wording on the case record or calendar, confirmed by the latest Register of Actions entry.

Burt County Calendar Limits

A blank result does not mean a canceled hearing. The calendar itself warns about this. An absence does not necessarily mean there is no court date. A setting can be entered late, moved, restricted, or simply fall outside the visible display. The date picker cannot search past dates. Note the court you selected, the search value, and the time you checked, then try the other court selector if the case stage is unclear.

Each tool has its role. The calendar gives a broad date or name view, JUSTICE Register of Actions gives the chronological case view, and the courthouse terminal is the practical local fallback when a filing, restriction, or older paper record changes what appears online. The District Clerk states that staff do not perform searches for a requestor, so use the public terminal and ask the office about copies or certification. The clerk page documents that terminal and the local records functions.

The terminal can pull a case-level Register of Actions for any calendar result that raises a question.

Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations

A continuance or reset moves a scheduled court event. Work through the sources in order. Start with the notice or citation. Then read the latest JUSTICE Register of Actions or case detail, and after that the statewide calendar result. The responsible clerk comes last.

Do not trust an old printed setting, since a docket line that vanishes does not prove a hearing was vacated. Nor does an older line prove it still stands. Burt County publishes no standing remote-hearing calendar and no weather closure calendar. A statewide practice rule alone never guarantees remote appearance. Ask the clerk or the judge's office whether a particular setting permits remote participation, and which notice or order controls. If weather or a closure notice creates doubt, confirm before you travel. A calendar result only identifies a scheduled hearing, never an appearance or an entered order.

Burt County Register Checks

In JUSTICE, the chronological docket is called the Register of Actions. Filed events appear there. So do hearing and trial dates, orders, and continuances once entered. Case Detail adds context. It may list a case date, outcome, subject, judge, and summary, while a calendar line points only to a scheduled proceeding and never replaces the Register of Actions. A visible entry is not the document image itself.

Setting
A scheduled court event, with the specific type supplied by the case record when entered.
Continuance or reset
A change to a scheduled event; the newest Register entry and current calendar result should be compared.
Register of Actions
The chronological list of filings and court actions, with an image when one is available.
Case Detail
A JUSTICE summary that can show the date, outcome, subject, judge, and related information.

Hearing recordings follow a separate path. The county-court recording rule shows that requesting one carries its own notice and objection procedures.

A court calendar setting and a hearing-recording request are different records, and each takes its own steps to get.

Burt County Clerk Confirmation

Conflicts between online information and a notice or citation deserve a phone call. Call the office that holds the case. County Court at 402-374-2950 comes first for traffic, municipal-ordinance, misdemeanor, and limited-jurisdiction matters. District Court at 402-374-2905 takes its own district docket and motion-day questions. The two offices share a courthouse. That does not mean a County Court case belongs at the District Clerk.

Statewide staff at 888-342-6395 can help with County Court information. They cannot confirm a specific hearing. A formal compiled-record request follows the State Court Administrator route in the court-record policy. Have the case number ready. Name the court too.

If You Miss a Court Setting

Act fast if a Burt County setting is missed. Read the citation and the notice first. Check the newest Register of Actions entry as well. Then contact the court that holds the case for the next procedural step. The traffic rules make an appearance date and waiver status matter, so when a citation allows no waiver, or when a multiple-offense citation includes a nonwaiver offense, an appearance is required.

Missed a setting? A traffic warrant remains active until recalled, and an online payment does not automatically cancel it. Contact the responsible court for direction rather than assuming payment or a blank calendar result resolves the matter.

Use the lawyer when one represents a party. Case-specific advice comes from that lawyer. The clerk can confirm administrative details and records channels, but cannot give legal advice or treat a calendar search as a final case outcome.
