Burt County Traffic Court Records
Traffic infractions, traffic misdemeanors, and municipal-ordinance traffic cases in Burt County are ordinarily heard in County Court. That makes the Burt County Court clerk the first stop for a docket search on any traffic matter. A city code page can explain the offense wording. But the County Court docket is the actual prosecution record. Burt County has no separate municipal-court docket. Once filed, the court case record can show the citation, the plea, the disposition, costs, payments, and the Register of Actions.
Felony-level traffic matters are the big exception. Enhanced DUI cases belong in District Court. So a traffic lookup that comes up empty on the County Court path may still need a District Court check. The citation only starts the process. After filing, the court case number becomes the better tool for tracking later activity in the Burt County court docket.
Burt County Traffic Court Route
Burt County traffic tickets land in County Court. The state's traffic case information from Nebraska Judicial Branch lays out the fork every driver faces: pay the waiver or show up in person. Even a municipal ordinance citation ends up on the County Court docket once a prosecution is filed. The city did not make that rule; the courthouse did.
Need the court itself? It sits in Suite 9 of the Burt County courthouse. The clerk answers at 402-374-2950. That office handles the court records, while the statewide JUSTICE system runs the electronic side of case lookup. A city code page has its place. It can tell you what an ordinance says. But it will not run a docket search or take your payment.
The waiver, contest, and diversion options all come from the court-side framework described in that official traffic guidance.

The citation starts the court route.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Burt County offers no separate citation-only lookup. Start with the citation in hand. Use the JUSTICE case search once a court case has been entered. The statewide Multi-Court Case Calendar can then search County Court and Burt County by future date or last name. The citation-payment screen and the case-payment dashboard are payment routes only. A payment screen should never be used to infer that a case exists, is current, or is resolved.
- Read the citation number, appearance date, issuing information, and whether the citation is marked waiver allowed.
- Check County Court first in JUSTICE or use the public terminal for a filed case. Check District Court if an enhanced DUI or felony-level case may be involved.
- Use the Multi-Court Case Calendar with County Court, Burt, and a future date or last name to locate a scheduled setting. It has no citation-number box.
- Call or visit Burt County Court in Suite 9 at 402-374-2950 if the citation is missing, has not posted, or the court route is unclear.
- For a waiverable citation, use the official online payment route or the signed citation and payment route the court directs. Do not mail cash.
Mail works as a response route: send the signed citation or waiver form with payment to the address printed on the citation. Electronic filing of uniform citations exists, but it serves law enforcement and attorneys filing into the court, not the public. The court provides no separate public search form or local dropbox for traffic matters.
Burt County Citation Numbers
A citation number and a court case number are not the same thing. Nebraska's uniform-citation rule allows up to two alpha characters and seven numerals, with no leading zeros. A working example of the format is AB1234567. After filing, the clerk assigns the court case ID. That number carries the court, county, case type, filing year, and sequence, and it is the one many JUSTICE and case-payment steps demand. The uniform citation rule spells out the numbering scheme and the electronic-filing framework.

Keep both numbers handy, because payment screens and court-record screens can ask for different ones.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
The appearance date printed on the citation starts the clock. For a waiverable citation, the waiver and payment must reach the court before that date. No waiver allowed? Then appearance is required. The same holds if a multiple-offense citation mixes in a nonwaiver charge. The statewide calendar can supplement the citation. But its own no-result warning means a blank search does not prove the hearing was canceled.
| Citation number | A number such as AB1234567; it is distinct from the court case ID. |
|---|---|
| Court | Burt County Court for most traffic cases; District Court for enhanced DUI or felony-level matters. |
| Appearance date | The date on the citation, confirmed against the newest court record when needed. |
| Calendar result | A scheduled case number, caption, date, time, and location when entered. |
| Register of Actions | The chronological court record that can show a later setting, reset, order, or disposition. |
| Waiver status | The citation instruction that controls whether payment before the appearance date is available. |
If the citation and the calendar disagree, check the latest Register of Actions and call County Court before assuming the older date still stands. The Burt County Court Dates page walks through the calendar's court selector and the confirmation chain.
Burt County Traffic Search Timing
Entry lags, so a brand-new citation may not appear yet. A blank calendar result does not mean no date exists, and the calendar cannot search by citation number. When the record or the date stays unclear, fall back on JUSTICE, the courthouse terminal, or a call to the County Court clerk.
Burt County Payment Screens
The Citation Payment Process handles a standard or electronic waiverable citation. It takes Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or eCheck. One caution from the landing screen: payment is not guaranteed to post the same day. The Internet Payment System does a different job. It accepts post-decision case payments by court case number. It also offers a ticket or citation route, a case payment route, and an ePayment account option. The official payment dashboard keeps ticket or citation payment separate from case payment and a saved-account workflow.

A payment screen is not a case search. The wrong number or category can trigger an online-payment denial without deciding anything about case status.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Start with the waiver instruction printed on the citation. If the citation is waiverable, you may skip the court date, plead guilty, and pay the set amount beforehand. Nothing forces that route; appearing to contest stays open. But a nonwaiver citation has to be handled in court, and so does any multi-offense ticket with a charge that requires an appearance. Already pleaded not guilty? Then the online waiver route is off the table, since a trial date has been set on the Burt County court docket.
| Waiverable ticket response | Contest or appearance response |
|---|---|
| Use the citation-payment process or signed citation/waiver route before the appearance date. | Appear as the citation or court directs and follow the case's next setting. |
| Available only when the citation marks waiver allowed. | Required when waiver is not allowed or a linked offense requires appearance. |
| The transaction has an applicable card or eCheck charge shown before completion. | An online waiver is not the route after a not-guilty plea or a trial date. |
Do not assume payment ends every issue. An active warrant remains active until recalled, and payment alone does not automatically cancel it. Contact the court for direction when a warrant, missed setting, or conflicting instruction appears.
The citation-payment warning states the waiverable-ticket prerequisites.

Read that warning before choosing payment instead of an appearance.
Burt County Payment Timing
Paying a citation online does not guarantee same-day posting. The case-payment dashboard says amounts hit the selected account immediately. The court does not disburse them for seven days, though. That lag does not soften an appearance instruction or clear an active warrant. Save your confirmation. If the court record has not updated before a deadline or hearing, call County Court.
Online bonds are not allowed. The minimum charge is $1.25 per case or ticket. The dashboard caps totals below $5,000. Larger totals require multiple payments above that line. The citation-payment screen shows a transaction charge of $1.25 to $2.95. The live screen names the exact figure before you finalize.
The official payment FAQ holds the waiver-payment charge language plus the court's own instructions.

Check the live screen for the exact charge. The official pages keep both current notices and older fee wording side by side.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Two offices, two records. Burt County Court or District Court, through JUSTICE, holds the case file and Register of Actions: the citation, plea, disposition, costs, payments, and filings. The Nebraska DMV keeps a wholly separate driver record. Neither one stands in for the other. A court docket is not a current DMV history, and a DMV printout is not the court's Register of Actions. Ask the court for the citation case or a certified copy, and go to the DMV's official services for the driving record.
| Court traffic record | Driver record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Burt County Court or District Court, with JUSTICE access. | Nebraska DMV. |
| Core record | Citation or case, plea, disposition, costs, payment, filings, and Register of Actions. | The separate state-maintained driver record. |
| Request route | JUSTICE, courthouse terminal, or the clerk holding the court file. | Official DMV services. |
Nebraska law does connect the two, in one direction. A certified abstract of a covered conviction must go from court to DMV within 30 days after sentencing or disposition. That reporting duty joins neither record to the other.
Burt County Traffic Payment Categories
The state demo splits waiverable citations from criminal or traffic case payments. A case payment needs the assigned case number. That number exists once court activity starts. The waiverable route follows the citation itself, before its appearance date. The ePayment account option only manages saved items. It is not a court setting.
The official criminal and traffic payment demo displays that category choice. It does so before any payment is entered.

Picking a category is just an administrative step. It never replaces reading the citation and the court record.
Copies and Fees
Do not confuse the two kinds of charges. A card or eCheck transaction charge for an eligible online citation runs in the $1.25 to $2.95 range the official screens describe. Copy fees from the court are separate. The statewide county-court schedule and the Burt District Clerk page both state $0.25 per photocopy page and $1 for a certificate and seal. Ask the court holding the traffic case first. It can tell you whether a plain or certified copy fits your need.
| Item | Amount | Use |
|---|---|---|
| County-court photocopy | $0.25 per page | Copy charge for the court record. |
| Certificate and seal | $1 per document | Certification charge listed by statute and the Burt District Clerk. |
| Eligible online citation transaction | $1.25 to $2.95 additional charge | Shown by the official payment screen before completion. |
| Case-payment sequence | Under $5,000 per payment total | Multiple payments are required above the stated threshold. |
